P is for The Princess Bride

Posted by Dawn Dalton on 6:00 AM

Last year, I attempted the A to Z Blogging Challenge with young adult books starting with the appropriate letter of the alphabet. I was going to follow that same theme, but I knew so many of them would be the same and this year, I've been trying my hand at script writing - with fairly good success. So, I decided to base this year's theme on either movies I loved as a kid - or movies made for kids. Join me on a Hollywood adventure?

Another no brainer for me. The Princess Bride is my favourite movie. Of all time. Bold statement, I know - but I think I can stand behind it. I mean, there are others that rank quite high. None this high.

Action. Adventure. Romance. Murder. Wesley.

Pirates!

Oh, and Rodents of Unusual Size.

And The Pit of Despair.

Mandy Patinkin - "you killed my father, prepare to die."

Ack! So many amazing things about this movie. Seriously, if there was one flick I would give almost anything to go back and time and write, it's THIS one.

Book to movie adaptations are tough, and almost always, the movie doesn't live up to the book. This is a case where the movie absolutely does the book justice, and actually, may be better than the book. That isn't to say I don't love the novel - I have three copies of it.

But the movie was just so damn good.

And yeah, I still have a serious crush on Wesley. In this movie...not Saw, which is just weird to me.

I'm done gushing. Honest. Time to share YOUR "P" movie of choice.

For me, the P movie would be the Parent Trap. I had such a crush on Hayley Mills. :-)

Does The Proposal count as P. I think it's so funny.

Poseidon! That would be mine! Good post. www.sandysanderellasmusings.blogspot.com

You can't go wrong with this movie. Would be my choice for P as well. :)

Perfect P!! I love that movie! I need to get that for my Granddaughter!
